Many have asked me how the big boy bed battles have been going... and, I'm happy to report that the worst of it only lasted two or three days!
Go Jackson!!
The first night was by far the worst, with the near-hour of physically putting him to bed. But, every night thereafter, the time it took to convince him to lie down was less and less... and, now we have a pretty good routine and he doesn't fight at all. We go upstairs, take a bath (if Jon and I are good), brush teeth, put on PJs, lie down, read a story or two (usually Brown Bear, Brown Bear), and then he settles with one or four animals and stays in bed!
He still falls out of bed fairly frequently (Mary, for whatever reason, Jon is against putting the bed against the wall!!?? Thinks falling in the "crack" is worse than on the floor... anyway). So, sometimes we go in to check on him and he's sleeping on the floor.
We have a bit of difficulty with him waking up in the middle of the night. For a while during the first week, we'd have to re-play the bedtime fight and physically put him to bed. The worst bout of this lasted about 20 minutes at 340 a.m. And, there has been a night or two we gave in after multiple times getting up and let him sleep with us for a while, but then again, he's was sick earlier this week, too.
Now, the biggest adjustment for Mom and Dad? Jackson being up and mobile really early! There may be a gate at his bedroom door in the future... we're spoiled and getting up at 630 a.m. when we don't have to is rough! On about day 2, Jackson - all smiles - came in to our room to inform his father, "I was sleepin', but now I got up!" That is a fact :)
