There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

They seem to be too few and far between, but we did make it out for a date night in late August. We coordinated with two other couples, everyone brought their kids to our house for a shared sitter, and we hit the town.

We started the evening at Samuri's for sushi and hibachi. Thanks to Carrie and Dave, I got a good sampling of different kids of sushi and confirmed I really do like it. Jon - not so much (surprise, surprise, lol). We enjoyed the food and the show, but the very best part was Dave told our server that it was Carrie's birthday, so she got free dessert... along with the woman at our grill who was REALLY celebrating her birthday. Everything was cool until they asked for Carrie's ID to give her her meal for free, and when she told them it was a joke, the other woman was so pissed, lol. She didn't get her free meal because it was only for parties of six or more. She ended the evening being a real meanie-pants... sadly, her bummed out birthday was our joke of the night. Get over it, right?

Anyway, here are the girls at dinner. Me, Christy, and Carrie.

And, one of all of us. Blue and red were the colors of the night, lol... completely unplanned.

From there, we went bowling. That is always fun, but I'm not the greatest and enjoyed playing the jukebox more than anything. Our friend Brad always helps pick out the best old school songs :)

It was a good time with great friends... and, it was awesome to get out for some couple time.

And, friend time, too :)
