There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

This Thanksgiving, we packed up the kiddos and drove up to Louisville to spend the holiday with Jon's family. His Aunt Becky lives there and we've been to her house a couple of times for the holiday... but, recently, his Mom and Jean moved back to the area, too. It was a great excuse to make the drive and see everyone.

We drove up after work Wednesday and went directly to Grandma Patti and Jean's house. They made a spread for us - a pre-Thanksgiving dinner of pot roast, potatoes, and cheese cake. It was fabulous :)

After the dinner, we hung out and visited for a while and then headed to Becky and Keith's where we set up house.

Thanksgiving morning, we got up and began prepping for the dinner... and, got in some good visiting time. Becky hosts every year and this year she had more people over than I've ever shared a Thanksgiving meal with... At dinner, we probably had around 30 present.

Becky and Patti cooking it up.

A sampling of the people over for dinner.

Mary Grace enjoying her first Thanksgiving meal... this little girl can EAT. I fed her mashed potatoes, turkey, cranberries, and bread for what seemed like forever!

Black Friday we got up (not very early) and went shopping with Jon's cousin, Alex - he's 13 - and, left the kids home with Becky and Keith. It was a great shopping trip... I got my coat for Hartford for a steal and we got a number of gifts for the kids. But, more than that, it was fun!

We enjoy Louisville... Jackson loves Aunt Becky and Uncle Keith and they are great with Mary Grace, too... When we came back from shopping, Jackson was sitting on Keith's lap and they were watching Shrek :) It was just a blast to see Jackson enjoying his family so much.

We drove home Friday night and had the rest of the weekend to relax at home... and, we hosted the Jordans Saturday for a second Thanksgiving meal - we needed to cook for leftovers! It was a beautiful holiday... a great one for MG's first! Thanks to everyone for including us in their plans.
