There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

- Drew Barrymore

I can't believe that my baby girl is already 1! They all normally do, but it seems this year went even faster than normal... it has to be the extreme change a newborn goes through in her first year; from such a tiny, helpless, lump to a mobile, personality-filled sweetie pea. Oh, the bittersweet that is a first birthday.

Being how the holiday fell this year, I was off of work on MG's birthday and caught her first thing in the morning... she wakes up so happy!

We didn't do a whole bunch during the day, just enjoyed being home together. Grandma Patti and Jean were coming for their visit, arriving that evening, so we waited for them to begin our festivities.

Once the Grandmas arrived, we had chicken and yellow rice with peas for MG's first birthday dinner and followed it up with singing Happy Birthday, yummy birthday cupcakes, and presents.

Mary Grace loved us signing to her.

And, boy did she enjoy that cupcake!

She got some really cool bday presents... like this cutie outfit from the Grandmas.

This vacuum from Jackson.

(though, I think he picked it out for himself)

And, a doll house from Mom and Dad.

Thanks to everyone who remembered her birthday and sent love... she got a little bit of money for her bank account (thanks Grammy and Grandpa Tim), a cutie pie outfit from Auntie Crystal, and a pretty new lovie from Pops and Grandma Lynn... in addition to the tons of birthday wishes that came on Facebook :)

Her big birthday party will be on January 15, where we will open the house and celebrate in style :) We are looking forward to having our friends and family over help us celebrate this milestone... more to come!
