There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

This month has been the month of relo preparation and getting the house fixed up and on the market.

Jon's brother, Ben, came to stay with us for a while and has done an amazing job helping us fix up the house. The on-going issues that have been around for forever - like the hole in the kitchen ceiling, the controller-hole in the wall in the living room, the peeling paint in the spare bathroom, the broken gate and bowing planks in the fence - among other things - all got done. WOO-FREAKING-HOO!!

We also got some major staging help from my girlfriend, Becky - who has an amazing sense of all styles :) She walked through the house with me making some great suggestions and even raided her home for "neutral" art we could hang to help stage. The only part I didn't like of this process was thinking why in the world hadn't we asked for her help sooner! The Andersons also came over to help in the front yard... we are so lucky to have great friends!

We knew we'd be out of town for the 3rd week of September for Dad's wedding, so that was our deadline to get stuff done and the house listed. After some drama with my relocation package and one of the two Broker Market Analyses we had to have done, we were able to proceed and the house was listed on September 13. A full 3 days ahead of my drop-dead deadline :)

We listed with Tammy Kidd - and, my Murfreesboro peeps take heed. If you are ever in need of a realtor, she is the one for you!

Here are the details from our listing online:

The house looks absolutely fabulous... the best it's ever looked since we've lived there, which is a bit depressing. It is my goal that from this point forward, we don't wait until we know we're leaving a home to make it beautiful and a joy to live in! Wish me luck in that, lol.
