One of the challenges of having a preemie in the NICU was that visitation is limited, especially for kids. The big kids could have come in to meet Sammy before October 1, the official start of cold and flu season when the NICU goes on lockdown and no kids under the age of 12 can visit. However, MG had been sick and was on an antibiotic, so it was recommended she not come in. And, we felt it was unfair for Jack to meet Sammy without her... so we decided to wait.
When we got the word that we would be rooming in outside the NICU, my first question was if the older kids could finally meet Sammy... when we got the green light, it felt like a huge consolation prize for having to wait one more day to bring him home.
SO... on Monday, I went home and packed, ate dinner with the fan, and we all made our way back to the hospital to get settled for the night and for Jack and MG to finally meet their brother.
Unfortunately, it happened in the hallway... but, what can you do?
Jack was anxious to see him, but you can see MG's huge smile in the background, too.
We made our way to our room and the kids washed up so they could come check him out.

They were both so happy to finally meet him... and were amazed at how small he is and how soft his skin is. MG wanted to show him her batman hat (??) and they sang him a diddy of Twinkle Twinkle. They didn't get to stay long - it was a school night and already after 8 p.m. - but it was a relief to me that my kiddos all got to meet each other!
