There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

Saturday, May 1, 2010, turned out to be a big day in Middle Tennessee. We had a ton of rain, and experienced what has since been named a "Hundred Year Flood."

I had a sorority event that got canceled early in the day because of the weather forecast, but my girlfriend, Christy and I did end up venturing out to get a pedicure and some dinner that night... we got lucky because as we were sitting in the salon, we saw the news coverage of a semi half-submerged on I-24... this is the interstate I drive to work on every day.

The flood was just amazing to watch on the news. We were very fortunate not to have near the water or damage in Mufreesboro. My office building had flooding in our parking garage (seven levels below the building) and was closed on Monday. It reopened Tuesday, but some of the elevators were out for a week.

It really was a crazy thing to experience, and quite heartbreaking. While this was going on here, a crazy tried to blow up an SUV in Times Square and the oil rig explosion took place in the Gulf and it really felt like the rest of the world didn't know what was going on in Tennessee... it was strange.

Here is a link to a site with tons of flood pictures.
