There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

- Drew Barrymore

This past Sunday evening, Jackson and I ventured out to "Pumpkin Patch at the Zoo," otherwise known as Ghouls at Grassmere! This event is one of my favorite fall activities and this year, Jackson and I met up with a bunch of our friends.

Before heading out, Jackson got dolled up in his Buzz Lightyear costume. This costume was a surprise gift from our good friends, the Andersons. Jack is going to be Woody for trick or treating - GeeMee and GeePa brought the Woody costume when they visited a couple weekends ago - but, I've got to tell you it was nice to have the Buzz costume for the zoo... and, Jackson was just thrilled! To infinity.... and, BEYOND!!

We headed out and got to the zoo a bit early... and, Sunday is definitely the day to go. For the past two years, we've gone on Saturday and it had been crazy. Sunday evening, there was no line getting in and we barely had to wait for any of the activities. Traffic on the walking paths was much more manageable, too... will definitely be going back on a non-Saturday.

Once we got to the zoo, we waited for our friends to arrive. Jackson was a bit impatient, but we used our time wisely and he took a decent picture of me!

Before long, the Jordans and Banes arrived! Jackson was SO excited :) Notice in the first picture, he's air born, lol. Here he is with Luke and Leia (also known as ... well, Luke and Missy Evelyn). Then, Papa Smurf joined us (aka, Matthew :)).

We headed off to trick or treat along the animal paths. Most of the animals were sleeping, but we did see some flamingos and zebras. One of the treat stations was manned by a scary clown, which didn't go over well with my Buzz... but, other than that, the kids enjoyed getting their treats.

Then, we hit the hayride, the carousel, and the carnival games. No lines!!

Here are the Banes on our hayride...

And, Jackson and Luke

We danced a bit at the Monster Mash tent and grabbed a free doughnut (score!) before heading out. By this time, Jackson was pretty wiped out... as confirmed by Sleepy Buzz on the way home.
