We had a really nice Easter weekend. It ended up being a perfect balance of being lazy around the house and doing fun stuff.
Saturday morning, Jon got up to play football and the kids and I had a quiet, leisurely morning. After lunch, though, we all headed out to the Murfreesboro City-wide Easter Egg Hunt. This is a great annual event held every year at Siegel Park with lots of fun things for the kids to do.
As soon as we arrived, Jackson headed to the sand to search for eggs.

And, Little Miss hunted eggs in the kiddie hunt. I think she enjoyed it, but wasn't the greatest at picking up the eggs and putting them in her basket. She was more interested in watching everyone around her.

Jackson and Daddy played a couple of games - they had things like hoola hoop toss and putt-putt golf - and, I ran into a girlfriend of mine. Then, it was off to the Hunt!
The event holds multiple hunts throughout the day and many are limited to specific age groups. They toss plastic eggs into a giant field and everyone runs out to grab the loot. Then, kiddos turn in their eggs for prizes.
Here is a pic of Jackson waiting his turn to hunt.... he participated in the 5 and under hunt.

And, they're off! Jon is right in the middle in red, with Jackson right in front of him. No worries, parents were not permitted to grab eggs.

After the hunting and games, we headed to the playground for some fun. Jackson and Daddy played while Mary Grace and I walked around a bit and sat under a tree.
I have to share this pic... The look I'm getting here does NOT bode well for our futures, lol.

That night, it was egg decorating time!

Mary Grace was more interested in having a snack!

We had an awesome decorating set, which included dyes, crayons, stickers, stampers, paint, glitter, and beads. I made the executive decision to not do glitter or beads, but Jackson gave everything else a try.

Our handiwork

Easter morning, Jackson was anxious to find out what the Easter Bunny had left him... he was very impatient and irritated with us for making him wait until 8 o'clock, but he was pretty thrilled once we finally made it downstairs.
Checking out the loot (geesh, is everything Spiderman!?)

Finding eggs! Jackson was on his own again this year... looking forward to next year when Mary Grace can help.

The rest of the day, we just lazed about until later in the afternoon when the kids and I went to the park. It was a beautiful day and playgrounding it on Easter is turning out to be one of our traditions...
Jack on the go... he met a friend and had a great time playing with him and his Dad.

Little miss checking out the playground.

Jack and I ended the day cuddling and watching the beginning of The Ten Commandments, which is one of my favorite Easter things to do. It was shown on network TV Saturday night, but - for me - this is an Easter evening movie... thankfully, I have it on DVD. I only ever make it until about when Moses finds out he's a Hebrew, but Easter wouldn't be complete without catching at least a bit of the flick. I hope watching it is something the kids will want to do with me every year... it always reminds me of my Mom.
So, it was a full and fun weekend... and, I'm promising myself that I'm not going to wait until Easter to make hard-boiled eggs again!
