There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

- Drew Barrymore

This is what they said about babies Jack's age:

Jackson Edward is gaining strength and mobility and is able to sit unassisted for longer periods. His horizons are expanding and he wants to experience everything within reach, so just about everything that he picks up will go straight into his mouth. Just be sure that the items Jackson Edward puts in his mouth are clean and don't pose a choking hazard.

Jackson Edward now has enough coordination to be able to pass a toy from one hand to the other. This also means he may be ready to start feeding himself, so try giving him soft finger foods such as ripe fruit or Cheerios to practice (be sure the pieces are small and always stay close in case he starts choking).

Jackson Edward will continue to babble as he learns how to use his tongue, as well as how to shape his mouth to create and change sounds. Some of his loud outbursts are nothing more than an experiment to see how far he can project his voice.

Help Jackson Edward develop the gross motor skills he'll need for walking, climbing, riding a bike, and playing ball by providing a safe place to play. Change his position regularly (from tummy to back to sitting, etc.) and take him to new locations to encourage his curiosity and desire to explore. Provide interactive toys such as a soft foam ball and encourage him to try to roll it back and forth.

Jack is definitely getting good at sitting up on his own... he's got it pretty much down but, we have had a few topples and he's hit his head a couple of times. It's hard to see him hurting but, I know there will be plenty of those times in the future. I haven't quite gotten able to laugh at him (per Grandpa's advice) but, am making him a Momma's boy by giving him hugs and kisses instead :)

Also, today, boy was he getting closer and closer to making forward motion. And, I think he's starting to get frustrated that he can't move around. He gets whiney and cry-y and will throw himself at something (like if he's on our lap) despite the fact that he can't really control himself. He's absolutey facinated with remote controls and the laptop!

Coming soon, a picture of Jack sitting on the couch reading some books... here it is!
