There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

On the last Sunday of September, Jackson finally had his first swim lesson.  I had tried to register him for the Montgomery County swim lessons back in August, but that proved to be impossible, so I registered him for classes at a brand new private facility close to the house, Kid's First.

Leading up to the lessons, he seemed to be nervous and excited.  Once we got there, though, he was ALL excited.

Here's a pic right before his lesson

The first lesson went well.  We signed up for a group lesson, but Jack was the only kid there, so he got one-on-one attention.  The facility has mirrored windows, so I could watch during his lesson... it was cool to see his comfort level increase in such a short time.  His biggest obstacle is putting his face in the water... but, even that was getting closer at the end of the lesson.

It went so well, and since he's the only kid in the class, I signed Mary Grace up, too.  Her first lesson was this past week, and she did well, too.  She was SUPER excited, but then got a bit scared once she was in the lesson.  But, it didn't take her long to get a bit more comfortable and begin to play around.

I'm thankful to finally have them enrolled in a class and am looking forward to watching them learn to swim.  And, I'm really looking forward to not having a kid attached to me for an entire visit to a pool... maybe next summer, I'll be free!
