There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

Vacation got started Saturday morning with us loading up the car and beginning our two-day drive to Orlando. The drive takes about 10 hours or so, but rather than push ourselves, we decided to do it in two days. The original plan was to stop off at Stef and Kenny's house for a visit, but that ended up not working out... so, we just picked a stop just shy of the Florida state line.

First nights of vacation are always fun just because you're in a hotel :) The kids made themselves at home.

As you can see, Jackson made himself a fort...

Sunday morning, we hit the road again with a bit more anticipation. As we crossed into Florida and got closer to Disney, we started noticing the weather improved. We actually heard a guy on the radio complain about the weather... I think he mentioned it was going to be partly cloudy... well, when we looked, there was not a cloud in the sky and the temperature was perfect... I guess good weather is relative.

As we got closer, it seemed things came up out of the blue to prevent our arrival. We hit a bad accident and saw a medi-vac helicopter, which was sad to see and it forced us to turn around. And, of course Jackson had to stop 15 minutes before we got there to go potty.... lol, but look at that view!

We still hadn't told Jackson where were going... and, honestly, if we had told him, he wouldn't have understood... so, as we got on property and started seeing signs with Mickey ears, I think he noticed them, but still didn't understand.

Almost there!

So, we arrived at the All Stars: Sports resort about 4:30, a bit behind schedule, but SO happy to have made it. And, as we checked in, Jackson was just looking around wondering where we were...

Mary Grace was unsure, too...

We ended up telling Jackson that night once we were in our room, but he just didn't understand... not until we got to Magic Kingdom the next morning.

While Jon unloaded the car, the kids and I explored a bit. The resort is big, with five courtyards with two giant buildings on either side. Each courtyard and building pair is themed with a sport. We were in the football building, and there is baseball, tennis, basketball, and surfing. In the main building where the registration desk is, there is also a food court, gift shop, and arcade. There is a huge pool outside that building, then a smaller pool tucked away in the baseball area. From the resort, we could take a bus to anywhere we needed to go on property. The room was small, but servicable... all we did there was sleep!

Here is a pic of our building.

And, of Jackson hugging Huey/Dewey/Lewie - lol, don't know which - in the tennis courtyard.

Sunday night, we had thought about going to Downtown Disney, but by the time we got in the room and unpacked, we were pretty much ready for bed... looking forward to the morning!
