There's something liberating about not pretending. Dare to embarrass yourself. Risk.

Definately, there are two great things about moving to a new place. First, we've been fortunate enough to move to places where people were intersted in visiting. And, second, when people do visit, it is a great excuse to do all kinds of touristy things you just don't do while living every day life.

This past weekend, my Aunt Patti and cousin Katie came for a long weekend. It was very spur of the moment and no pressure and we had a great time. Their main excuse for visiting was, of course, to see Jack, which is fine with me.

Friday, Jack went to daycare to continue his transition and when we stopped by to pick him up a bit after noon, he was napping. So, definately not wanting to wake him up, Auntie Patti, Katie and I took off to be tourists. We drove over to Franklin and visited the Carnton Plantation. If you're a bookworm like me, this is the setting for the book "Widow of the South". I dig old houses and it was awesome.

Saturday, we went ultra-touristy and did two of the Greyline bus tours. I'm a big dork and wanted to do this ages ago when we first moved here but, was too pregnant to do it. I was ecstatic when our visitors thought it was a good idea. In the morning, we drove around downtown and all the sites were pointed out. We got out at Centenial Park and the Parthenon. We got a mini tour of the Ryman Auditorium, where the Grand Ol' Opry was for forever. Jack also experienced his first bar at the Legends!

We ate lunch at a craphole (never, never eat at the Scoreboard if you find yourself in Nashville) and in the afternoon made the rounds around the Opryland Complex. We did the riverboat ride inside the Opryland Hotel, visited the current Grand Ol' Opry auditorium and went to the country music wax museum.
