A couple of months ago, I called my good friend from college, Toby (aka Joseph Gruber), and asked if he would do us the honor of being Mary Grace's godfather. He was surprised by our request, but accepted enthusiastically :) At that time, I gave him the heads up we'd be celebrating MG's birthday during MLK weekend and that we hoped he would make it out. Well, he did!!
We had a really, really good weekend :) Toby flew in Saturday morning before the party and we had some time to run around a bit and run a few errands. The party itself was a blast, of course, but even after the party, the Jordans stuck around and we all played Trivial Pursuit and Cranium, had some wine (at least the girls did) and even had a late night run to Taco Bell - Thanks, Brad!! What a good time :)
Sunday, we got up and out to meet the Jordans for lunch at Miller's Grocery. The country food is one of those things we share with guests and their weekend lunch buffet was pretty amazing. Their fried chicken is awesome, but the biggest draw was the dessert spread. Holy moly! Oh, and of course, the sweet tea ;)
After lunch, we napped and stuck close to home... and played some play-doh!

And, Uncle Toby introduced the kids to his iPad... he had a Toy Story 3 search and find kind of game that Jackson really dug and we all played a bit of Angry Birds, lol. Jackson kicked our behinds.

Sunday, we got up and headed out to the Discovery Center, which is our favorite inside activity. It was a free admission day, so it was absolutely insane, but we still had a good time.
Jackson canoeing.

And, MG playing in the Tots area... great shot, Uncle Toby!!

We grabbed some lunch and headed home... a shot of Pirate Jack as we waited for our order :)

To quote the summer's ending song from Dirty Dancing, "Old friends are the best." I love that Toby can come out to visit us and that he's a part of my kids' lives... and, do they love their Uncle Toby as the pictures obviously show :)
Thanks, Toby, for coming out to celebrate Mary Grace's birthday, play with Jack, and visit ME, too :) Love you!
